This week's edition of BioNews sees a new Genetics Editor, Siobhan Chan, at the controls.
Siobhan joins us from the press office at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. Since the hospital has a busy Assisted Conception Unit, she comes to us with a good grasp of the assisted conception side of our work too. With a Master's degree in Science Communication from Imperial College London and a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Bath, Siobhan will make a very welcome addition to the team.
Siobhan replaces Dr Lux Fatimathas who has left BioNews to join Biomed Central. Lux began contributing to BioNews as a Volunteer Writer in April 2010, and joined the editorial team in September 2012. To date she has notched up 70 articles, and has edited many more.
While we will miss Lux's presence in the office - particularly her unflappability, and her capacity for eating vast quantities of fruit - we are delighted that Lux will continue to write for BioNews as a volunteer. Her erstwhile colleague, Science Editor James Brooks, is looking forward to commissioning her!
With Siobhan on board, working alongside James and Legal Editor Antony Blackburn-Starza, we are confident that BioNews will continue to provide topical coverage of genetics, assisted conception and embryo/stem cell research for many years to come. As always, our hope is to continue as a free service open to all, but this isn't always easy. Please give our confidence a boost by supporting our work, and becoming a Friend of PET today.
