Remember the dark and stormy night of Thursday 26 October?
I immediately knew that something was very wrong when I arrived at the PET (Progress Educational Trust) office the following morning, and the carpet squelched bebeath my foot. Large quantities of water had come in through the flat roof above our office.
A soggy carpet was the least of my concerns, when I noticed that water was running down the walls and onto our monitors. Our computers, phones, chairs and everything on our desks was completely sodden. It would be easier to list the few things that were dry.
Unfortunately, since then we have been unable to return to the office – which is where we publish BioNews – and we will not be able to return for some time. The office needs to be completely dried out, before the electricity to the lights can be safely restored.
Not only has this unfortunate event disrupted our work – it has also left us with the added burden of clearing up the mess and dealing with workmen, the landlord and also the insurance company.
Rather than ask you for a donation to help us with some of the uninsured losses, in the first instance we would like you to nominate us so that we are in with a chance of receiving £1000 from the Movement for Good Awards.
All you need to do is follow this link, scroll down the page to where it says 'Nominate a charity for the £1000 donation draws', and enter your details beneath our charity's name. Please do this now, because the draw closes in December.
Please help us ensure that PET is in the running to be awarded £1000. It only takes a minute, and it could really make a difference to us. Please also share the link widely, and encourage others to nominate PET.
Of course, if you would like to make a donation to PET directly as well, you are more than welcome to do so here.
Thank you.
