A pilot scheme launched today, 30 January 2023, in Leeds, Cardiff and Carlisle will allow accredited journalists and legal bloggers to report on family court proceedings for the first time.
Family courts handle – among other things – parental orders for babies born via surrogacy, though the anonymity of children affected will be preserved under the changes.
Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority applications are exempt from the pilot, and cannot be reported on by journalists, Law Gazette reported.
