A couple from Scotland whose baby died shortly after birth are campaigning for more people to volunteer as egg and sperm donors.
Natasha was diagnosed with premature ovarian insufficiency at age 23, meaning that she could only have a child with the help of an egg donor. She – and her husband Callum – were on a waiting list for six years before receiving donor eggs and conceiving their daughter. However, the baby's kidneys did not develop properly, and she died soon after being born. They are now back on the waiting list.
'We just want a donor and will do anything to raise awareness. People always say they didn’t know there was a shortage or that they could be a donor,' they said. 'To any potential donors, thank you for even looking into it. It’s not easy, but it’s a hugely selfless act that can help a couple become a family.'
