A randomised open trial involving men with obesity and type 2 diabetes compared the effects of treatment with semaglutide and testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).
The researchers, from the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia, found that semaglutide has a positive effect on body weight, metabolism, general symptoms of hypogonadism and sperm quality. The TRT had a stronger impact on sexual function, but this treatment can carry risks, including the suppression of sperm production.
