'Twins' born 16 years apart - correction

In BioNews 360, we published a story about a baby born following the implantation of an embryo that had been frozen for 16 years. It has been brought to our attention that there is no evidence that embryo quality deteriorates during extended storage times, contrary to the impression given in our report. We have altered the relevant text, which now reads:

'Although theoretically very long-term freezing is possible, the normal period for embryo storage in the UK is limited to five years. However, this story seems to confirm studies carried out on animal embryos, which show that longer-term freezing carries few significant risks'.
