Professor Kirsty Horsey

Professor Kirsty Horsey is an Adviser to PET (the Progress Educational Trust), and is a Volunteer Writer at its flagship publication BioNews. Kirsty was previously Reproduction Editor of BioNews, and together with Dr Jess Buxton and Professor Marcus Pembrey, she developed the BioNews writing scheme to provide practical science writing training and experience for PhD students. Kirsty is currently professor of law at Loughborough University, and an Honorary Professor at Kent Law School, University of Kent where she taught for many years and from where she obtained her PhD on legal parenthood following the use of surrogacy and other forms of assisted conception. She also previously worked as a senior research associate at the London Women's Clinic. Much of her research remains focused upon assisted conception: most recently she coedited Future Directions in Surrogacy Law: Law and Policy Reform in the UK and Beyond. She is coauthor (with Professor Erika Rackley) of Tort Law, now in its 9th edition.
