Programmable stem-cell-based embryo models created using epigenome editing
A programmable stem cell model, with the ability to mimic early stages of mammalian development, has been created using an engineering biology technique...
Dr Elena Corujo-Simón is a Volunteer Writer at BioNews. Following a BSc in Biotechnology in Spain, Elena moved to the UK to study for a MRes in Regenerative Medicine at the University of Bath. She obtained a PhD in Developmental Biology from the University of Bath and continued to carry out research in early mammalian embryos during her postdoc with Professor Jenny Nichols at the University of Cambridge and Edinburgh, where she remain a visiting researcher. Elena's scientific expertise is on cell specification during pre-implantation development, embryo models and derivation of embryonic stem cells. She is the current translation and research manager of the Institute for Molecular Science and Engineering at Imperial College London.
