Dr Elpida Fragouli was a Volunteer Writer at BioNews. She earned her Master's degree in Prenatal Genetics and Fetal medicine from University College London (UCL), followed by a PhD in Human Genetics also in UCL. She held research positions at the UCL Centre for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis and Yale University Medical School and was Laboratory Director of two preimplantation genetics laboratories, Reprogenetics UK and Juno Genetics. She was a lecturer in Biomedical Science in Bournemouth University's Department of Life and Environmental Sciences.
