Dr Jane Currie was previously a Volunteer Writer at BioNews, having originally joined the publication under the auspices of its writing scheme. She is also a doctor (specialty registrar) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, undergoing subspecialty training in Maternal and Fetal Medicine in Bristol since 2019. She completed a PhD at University College London (UCL)'s Institute for Women's Health (IfWH) where her research focused on urinary pathology in pregnancy. She continues post-doctoral research in this field as a Chadburn Lecturer at the IfWH. She has an MA in Healthcare Ethics and Law from the University of Manchester, where her dissertation focused on consent issues in pregnant adolescents, and she also has an MA in Clinical Education from the Institute of Education.
