Rosemary Paxman was previously a Volunteer Writer at BioNews, having originally joined the publication under the auspices of its writing scheme. She is currently studying for an Engineering Doctorate at the London Centre for Nanotechnology, a joint venture between University College London and Imperial College London. Her research, conducted in the laboratory of Dr Bart Hoogenboom and Dr Rachel McKendry, focuses on disentangling the nanomechanical sensor response in liquid, determining adsorbate and rheological properties. She is also an Ambassador for the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Network, and a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and of the Organisation for Professionals in Regulatory Affairs. Previously, she studied Chemistry at the University of York, initially as an undergraduate and subsequently as a postgraduate researching liquid crystals and their synthesis for use in new display devices.
