Last week, BioNews reported that woman undergoing IVF have donated some of their eggs to stem cell research in return for cheaper treatment. Our article included the following: 'This has sparked much dissent amongst pro-life lobbies. Dr Callum MacKellar, director of the Scottish Council on Human Bioethics voiced concern that 'this is an exploitation of poor couples. Rich people will not have to be presented with such a choice because they are able to pay for IVF treatment'.
It has been pointed out to us that this paragraph is potentially misleading, as it wrongly implies that the Scottish Council on Human Bioethics is a pro-life lobby group. In fact, it is an independent, non-partisan, non-religious registered Scottish charity. We apologise for any misunderstanding this may have caused.
