The Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) Surrogacy invited PET Director Sarah Norcross to talk to them about surrogacy for a POSTnote they were compiling.
Sarah was happy to contibute, particulary as surrogacy is complex, and often misunderstood. She provided data PET had gathered about surrogacy in the Fertility, Genomics and Embryo Research: Public Attitudes and Understanding Report.
The POSTnote on Surrogacy explains some of the key areas of debate, what discussions there are around surrogacy law in the UK, and some of the policy considerations.
Shortly before the publication of the POSTnote the SurrogacyUK Working Group on Surrogacy Law Reform, published 'Surrogacy in the UK: Myth busting and reform ten years on'. The authors and contributors Professor Kirsty Horsey, Natalie Smith, Sarah Norcross, Sarah Jones and Dr Bianca Jackson wrote about the the Report for BioNews.
PET hopes that the Report together with the POSTnote will encourage the Government to move forward with much needed surrogacy law reform.
