In this TEDx talk, Sandy Starr – deputy director of PET – marks the 70th anniversary of the discovery of DNA's double helix structure, and the 20th anniversary of the completion of the Human Genome Project.
Sandy uses the example of genomics to explore the relationship between data, information, knowledge and wisdom. He also discusses some of the major challenges now faced by genomics, such as negotiating the relationship between research and treatment, and addressing the need to study the full range of human genomic diversity (including the human genomic diversity that exists in Africa).
