A team led by scientists at deCODE Genetics, Reykjavik, Iceland, has discovered that mutations that inactivate a gene called ITSN1 are associated with an increased risk of Parkinson's disease, particularly in people with earlier onset disease.
The research findings are published in the Nature journal npj Parkinson's Disease.
