23andMe has now announced that hackers accessed 0.1 percent of its customer base. With more than 14 million customers worldwide, this equates to 14,000 customer accounts.
In October we reported that data stolen from genetic testing company 23andMe had been made available for sale online, specifically targeting users with Ashkenazi Jewish heritage (see BioNews 1211).
