A patient who received a genome-edited pig kidney has been discharged from hospital.
In a world first, the patient with end-stage kidney disease received the pig kidney at Massachusetts General Hospital last month (see BioNews 1232).
On leaving hospital, the patient said: 'I'm excited to resume spending time with my family, friends, and loved ones free from the burden of dialysis that has affected my quality of life for many years.'
