We are pleased to announce that Progress Educational Trust has launched a new, dedicated BioNews website. The new site, which was funded through a grant from the UK Department of Health, aims to provide readers with a more permanent source of news and comment in assisted reproduction and genetics and an extended range of content, including background information, timelines and recommendations on further resources. It can be found at BioNews.org.uk.
The features that already exist in the BioNews email service now appear in an enhanced form on the website. News is now published online during the week, whilst a weekly round-up of stories is still sent to subscribers via the BioNews email. From now on, the BioNews team will be doing more reporting from conferences, our next port of call being the British Society of Human Genetics conference in September. Besides Commentaries written by members of the BioNews team, we will now be publishing invited Commentaries written by other people: commentators, experts in the field and those with a personal story to tell. Recommends will continue to provide details of books & features, television & radio and events & conferences. However, now you'll be able to view all the currently recommended items in one place.
Besides the enhanced News and Commentaries sections, there will also be new types of content published on the site. The first of these are Updates, longer articles providing background information and a summary of news developments on recurring topics such as cloning, IVF and human genome research. More features, including conference reviews and a discussion forum, will be developed over the coming months.
We have worked hard to make BioNews.org.uk a user-friendly and visually pleasing site to use, based upon feedback and ideas we've received from BioNews subscribers. But our ultimate test is your experience of using the site. Please visit and take time to give us your feedback through the website - Contact Us section. We want to know what you like and dislike about the site, how you think we can improve it and, if you feel so inclined, what you would like to write for it.
