All women who believe they could be the genetic mother of a baby born in Israel following an embryo mix-up (see BioNews 1160), will be able to access genetic testing following a ruling by Lod regional court.
Baby Sofia is currently in the legal custody of the woman who gave birth to her and her husband, who discovered they were not genetically related to the child during the pregnancy (see BioNews 1165).
The fertility clinic where the IVF took place have failed to identify the genetic parents of the child, and individuals believing themselves to be the genetic parents of the child have been able to access genetic testing following court orders (see BioNews 1171).
