CRISPR pioneer Professor Jennifer Doudna of the University of California, Berkeley, has co‑founded a new biotech venture, Aurora Therapeutics, with the aim of bringing personalised genome‑editing treatments to a broader range of patients.
The company aims to make the process of designing and developing CRISPR‑based treatments more systematic, moving beyond one‑off cases toward a model that could serve many patients. They plan to take advantage of a new regulatory pathway announced by the Food and Drug Administration recently.
