A genome-wide association study of 38,691 individuals with ADHD and 186,843 controls has identified 27 genetic loci, and 76 genes, potentially linked to ADHD risk.
The consortium of researchers based in Scandinavia behind the study, published their results in Nature Genetics. The paper outlines that the genes identified are largely involved in early brain development, or are expressed in neurons, especially dopaminergic neurons.
