Dr Sylvie Armstrong is a Volunteer Writer at BioNews. She is a barrister specialising in family law at 1GC in London. She was awarded a PhD in Law from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, where her research explored the regulation of the commercial surrogacy industry. In particular, she focused on whether it would be possible to use a labour law framework to manage these arrangements. Previously, she studied Law at the University of Cambridge, and was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley.
