At least 15 fertility patients are asking the courts to allow paperwork lapses to be corrected so their embryos do not have to be destroyed.
The patients all had embryos, sperm or eggs in storage at fertility clinics, but paperwork was not handled correctly when two changes in the law allowed extended storage periods (see BioNews 1044 and 1111), and, as such, correct consents were not in place.
