Dr He Jiankui famously announced in 2018 at the Second International Summit on Human Genome Editing that he had created the world's first genome-edited babies (see BioNews 977).
Subsequently, Dr He was charged and found guilty of committing 'illegal medical practices' and sentenced to three years in prison and fined three million yuan (US$430,000) (see BioNews 1029).
CNN now reports that Dr He has put forward a new proposal for modifying human embryos that he claims could help aid the 'ageing population'.
