Analysis of data collected on the use of PGT-A in IVF cycles by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) can not be used to provide useful estimates of its effectiveness, a paper published in Assisted Reproduction Technologies has found.
Authors found that when comparing data collected by the HFEA on IVF cycles where PGT-A had been used with IVF cycles that did not use PGT-A, there was an overall reduction in the live birth rate where PGT-A had been used. However, they note that the HFEA does not collect data on cycles where there was an intention to use PGT-A, but no embryos were available for biopsy and data is limited on the type of PGT-A used. Authors also noted that PGT-A would not have been used even if desired, by patients who were self-funding but unable to afford it.
