Dr Cathy Herbrand
Dr Cathy Herbrand is a Volunteer at the Progress Educational Trust (PET), and a Research Fellow at De Montfort University's School of Applied Social Sciences. She is a member of the university's Reproduction Research Group, and her current research focuses on reproductive decision-making in the context of mitochondrial disorders. She is also a member of the Belgian Advisory Committee on Bioethics. She has a PhD in Sociology from the Free University of Brussels, and she has researched and taught at institutions including King's College London, the London School of Economics and Political Science and the University of Ottawa. Her main fields of interest are gender and family studies, health, genetics, and biotechnologies.
